Sendang Redjo Eco Retreat and Nature Park
Twenty minutes outside Paramaribo the landscape changes. The city falls away, the creeks appear, and somewhere among the trees in Tamanredjo lies Sendang Redjo, tucked around a private lake and open by reservation only. What you'll find: a private lake, wooden cabanas built in the Javanese style, hammocks looking out over the water, and a quiet so complete that after five minutes you forget you'd been missing it. This isn't a resort with a programme. It's a place that lets you breathe at your own pace.
The land Sendang Redjo stands on was once a plantation. Today it carries Javanese hospitality: warm, sincere, in no hurry. The kitchen works from family recipes, satay from the barbecue, tukunari caught fresh from the lake, food that smells of ginger and spices. You eat outside, looking at the water. That matters.

- Kayaking on a private lake
Early morning or just before sunset, you glide soundlessly across still water. No other boats, no engine noise, only the rhythm of your own paddle, the smell of the lake, and the birds lifting off along the overgrown bank. Time stops existing for a while. - Fishing with a bamboo rod
The tukunari, Suriname's peacock bass, lives in the creeks around Sendang Redjo. You fish with a simple bamboo rod, no technique and no rush. Catch one? Good. Catch nothing? Then you've spent hours with water, quiet and your own thoughts. Both outcomes are fine. - Floating in the lake
On your back, in warm water, sun on your skin. Doing nothing, the way it's meant to be done: light, free and completely present. Guests fall asleep in their hammocks here in the afternoon. No shame in it, that's rather the point. - Javanese cooking, straight off the fire
The food at Sendang Redjo is not an afterthought. A welcome drink when you arrive, lunch from family recipes, satay from the barbecue in the evening, fragrant and fresh and made with a kind of attention you can't fake. If you'd like, the day's catch goes on your plate. - Birdwatching
Kingfishers, herons, hoatzins in the distance. The area around Tamanredjo is a quiet treasury for anyone willing to look up. Every morning is different.

Sendang Redjo was voor ons echt een heel andere experience als het gaat om een dagje uit! 😍 We zijn er op 8 augustus 2026 geweest en het heeft onze verwachtingen absoluut overtroffen. Het weer was behoorlijk heet, maar wonderbaarlijk genoeg was het heerlijk koel in de cabana. En het water… echt zalig! 🥰 Heerlijk om lekker te zwemmen en te dobberen. Met daarnaast het kajakken en hengelen was er genoeg te doen en te genieten. Eigenlijk is alles aanwezig voor een gezellige dag rondom, in en op het water. 🌊🛶🎣 Ook het eten heeft ons goed gesmaakt en er was meer dan genoeg voor iedereen. Wij komen zeker terug! 🫶 Bedankt voor de fijne dag, Sendang Redjo! ❤️

Wat hebben wij als familie ontzettend genoten van ons verblijf bij Sendang Redjo Resort! De prachtige, rustige omgeving, de gastvrijheid en de fijne sfeer maakten het tot een onvergetelijke ervaring. Een van de absolute hoogtepunten was de vangst van een prachtige grote tukunari. Dat zal voor altijd een mooie herinnering blijven voor onze familie. Hartelijk dank aan het hele team van Sendang Redjo Resort voor de geweldige ontvangst en de mooie herinneringen. Wij komen zeker nog eens terug en kunnen dit resort van harte aanbevelen aan iedereen die wil genieten van de natuur, rust en de gastvrijheid!

Fantastische dag gehad met z'n vieren. Het ontvangst was geweldig, vriendelijk personeel, genoten van alle wateractiviteiten en van een smakelijke lunch. Later in de vooravond hebben wij een doodskop aapje gezien en de slapende sabaku vogels was ook een heel leuk gezicht! Zeker een aanrader en wij komen terug om de verdere ontwikkelingen van het resort mee te maken.

Heerlijke relax plek in Commewijne. Lekker dichtbij van huis, maar je zal denken dat je in binnenland bent! Heerlijk water, lekker eten, lieve mensen en ook nog luxe voorzieningen. Echt een aanrader!!
